The Mapleys of Little Woolstone

Henry Mapley, a labourer from Great Linford, moved to neighbouring Little Woolstone in the 1850's.

Little Woolstone is a village in the Borough of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. The name 'Woolstone' is an Old English language word, and means 'Wulfsige's farm'. In the Domesday Book of 1086, Little Woolstone as listed as Wlsiestone. Little Woolstone was enclosed by Act of Parliament in 1791. Until shortly after the turn of the 19th century, Little Woolstone was named Parva Woolstone.

Little Woolstone is the larger of the two Woolstones, hemmed in by the Riber Ouse to the east, having benefited from the building of the Grand Union Canal to the west. Its village pub, "The Barge Inn", dates from being opened to meet the needs of the canal labourers.
